DO YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR NEW HIRE SIGN AN EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT?

In today’s fast-paced work environment, having an employment contract is essential. It’s not just a formality—it’s a key step in building a clear, mutually beneficial relationship between you and your employee. A well-crafted contract establishes expectations, protects both parties and minimizes potential disputes.

Why Employment Contracts Matter

An employment contract outlines crucial details like job responsibilities, salary, benefits, working hours, and termination terms. By clarifying these early on, it sets the stage for a transparent relationship. Clear agreements also reduce misunderstandings and help prevent costly legal disputes. If disagreements arise, the contract provides a reliable point of reference for resolution.

Protect Your Business with the Right Tools

Our customizable contract template is designed to safeguard your business. It includes key provisions tailored to your new hire’s role, helping you manage future risks. The template also ensures compliance with Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, which defines the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees.

By using a compliant and thorough contract, you protect your interests and meet legal obligations, all while fostering trust with your new team member.

Building Stronger Work Relationships

Including an employment contract for every new hire isn’t just about meeting legal standards—it demonstrates your commitment to fairness and transparency. This approach encourages a positive working relationship, boosting job satisfaction and employee retention. Ultimately, it’s an investment in your business’s success.

Start your new hires off right with a solid foundation. A clear contract creates clarity, trust, and a pathway to long-term success for both you and your employees.

I'M INTERESTED IN HIRING A PART-TIME EMPLOYEE. WOULD YOUR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT TEMPLATE BE SUITABLE FOR ME?

Yes. Most of the terms and conditions for part-time employees are similar to those for full-time employees. The main difference lies in specifying the reduced hours of work. Apart from all other aspects of the employment relationship are the same for both (e.g., company policies and procedures).

A part-time employee usually works fewer than 30 hours a week. Some employers may offer benefits exclusively to full-time employees and pay part-time employees lower hourly or yearly wages. The availability of these benefits may also depend on the employer’s insurance provider, as some plans exclude part-time employees from participating.
